A JOINT MEETING OF GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND CHRISTIAN FORUM DIMAPUR HELD

A joint meeting of Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD) and Government officials Nagaland held at Bishop's House Dimapur on 28th April 2020 to share the concerns, challenges and enhancing possibilities of a strong collaborative mission to combat the pandemic crisis was addressed. Shri. Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS APC and Commissioner Secretary, Shri.Anoop Kinchi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Shri. Honje Konyak, Sec.F& CS, Department Govt. of Nagaland along with 35 Church leaders representing various denominations participated in the emergency meeting called by CFD. The interactive meeting was a platform to discuss serious concerns, to assess and to understand the work already done and to plan together to address the pandemic crisis collectively. Rev Moses Murry, Chairman CFD welcomed the gathering. Rev. Dr. N. Papino, Advisor, CFD did the invocation prayer. Rev.Vitoshe Swu, vice-chairman, CFD, addressed the gathering and opined that Covid-19 global pandemic is a part of God’s plan. However, it enhances us to come together  regardless of churches and denomination to work together and to help the needy in the society. He also said that every church has contributed in small or big way to help the deserving people/families in their own capacity.

Rev.Fr. C.P.Anto, Sec CFD highlighted the activities done during the pandemic crisis by the Christian Forum Dimapur. In his presentation he mentioned that Supply of food grains provision to guest workers (migrant workers) around 900 families, Counseling for children youth and others by professional and trained counselors, Reaching out to share the message of love, cooperation and appreciation to the frontline workers, Prayer Request and praying for various intentions by different churches and Christian institutions, Reached out to people who are in quarantine, Rehabilitation Centers, Orphanages and Charity homes with food grains and provisions, Hospital service provided on emergency to assist people to go to hospital, Covid-19 special mission team was constituted in view of serving the society better in the second and third phases respectively. He also appreciated all the contributors who made possible for alleviating pain and suffering of many people.
Shri Anoop kinchi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur opined that he is so fortunate to be in the meeting of CFD and appreciated its initiatives. He also highlighted about the importance of Social Distancing during this covid-19 and only way to safe ourselves from this pandemic is to stay at home. Further, he also requested the church leaders to extend hands and give cooperation with the administration & government to combat this pandemic together. Shri Y. Keketo Sema, IAS, APC and Commissioner & Secretary GON said ‘if Dimapur is safe, Nagaland is safe’.
He appreciated the CFD for their valuable contribution and sacrifices towards the society. He stated that Dimapur city is the gateway of Nagaland and Mini-India and Covid-19 pandemic is a God’s plan and hence, it’s an opportunity for Christians to serve people. He also iterated to incorporate with the government to combat the pandemic issue effectively. He exhorted the church leaders to go beyond the church to help the needy who belong to various religions and communities.

The church leaders resolved to support the government in the following areas: Christian Forum Dimapur will request the church associations to open the guest houses and premises for quarantine facilities. As per the needs of the government, the churches will take care of accommodating the respective church or community persons in quarantine designated and approved by district administration. As of now CFD collectively with the help of the different churches and institutions have covered around 1900 families with food grains, provision kits and will cover another 3000 more in two phases. The youth and pastors 10-15 in number maintaining the physical distance will go around to different stations and colonies to share the message of love and hope. CFD will represent and coordinate the charity and welfare related activities of the churches in Dimapur. CFD will provide volunteers in case the government requires. CDF will contact all the church associations to raise fund for hitting the target of 3000 people in the second phase of relief. The CDF will request permition for 10-15 members to have prayer in the church on Sundays maintaining the social/physical distance. The CFD also assured to continue to pray for our city, state, nation and people who are diseased, affected and infected by the Covid 19 virus globally. Many participants shared their opinions and concerns. Rev Moses Murry, Chairman, CFD, proposed vote of thanks, Rev.Dr. P.Dozo the Advisor CFD did the benediction and Rev. Tenga Seb Advisor CFD did the blessing of the fellowship meal.
